About Us
Our olive grove
Our olive grove is situated in the Els Ports National Park in Tortosa region, in Catalonia, Spain. The grove is built into the contours of the mountain, using stone-walled terraces to mitigate the impact of the climate (capturing & storing the rainwater) and also ease the harvesting of the olives from our trees.
The ancient olive trees with their gnarled trunks and silvery-green leaves are a fantastic example of the adaptation of nature to the passage of time. The terraces, hand-crafted with stacked stones supporting the grove while creating an environment perfect for olive cultivation. The stones absorb and retain heat during the day, releasing it at night, thereby creating a microclimate that fosters optimal growing conditions.
This is an example of sustainable agricultural practices that have been refined over centuries and generations of farmers. The combination of natural landscape, weathered olive trees, and the man-made stone terraces results in an ecosystem ideal for our olive trees, producing exceptional olives.
During the harvest season we have numerous very experienced farmers from the surrounding communities who support us to carefully pick the olives straight from the trees, a task passed down through generations. The outcome of this labour intense effort is olive oil from Farga, Sevillenca and Morruda olives, each renowned for slightly different but always rich flavour profile.
We want our olive grove to be an example for the sustainable coexistence of humanity and the land, while producing olive oil of exceptional quality.
